BERRIES

While most fruit grown and harvested at home is better than bought, home grown berries do seem to stand out as almost a different fruit than what you can buy in the store. With expert planning of the proper varieties, you can be picking blueberries in April through June, blackberries June thru July, and raspberries July through September. Six months of fresh berries from the landscape!

Blackberries

The flavor of a ripe blackberry slightly warmed by the sun, picked, and put directly in your mouth definitely says summer! Blackberries ripen in between blueberries and raspberries. With the installation of a vertical trellis, the vines are trained on the wires to keep them neat and tidy.

Raspberries

Primocane Raspberries ripen from mid-summer through the fall. Once the canes go dormant in the winter, all the canes get pruned to the ground, making the pruning extremely easy. Raspberry patches are easy to contain by installing a simple trellis system to keep the canes in bounds.

Blueberries

Blueberries are some of the first berries to ripen in the spring. They require a soil with low pH for success. We have developed a superb recipe to acidify even the most neutral or alkaline soil. Consistent water and bird netting are also key to ensuring bountiful crops and healthy plants.
